Main floor addition

Last week Joel finished all the electrical in the main floor bath and bedroom with Ron.  Later that week Uncle Barry (dad’s brother) came over to help Joel get all of the insulation put up and the vapor barrier too!!  It looks so good and bright in there!!  I was so happy U. Barry came over to help because they got the whole thing done in one day.  Seeing things go on like this are so encouraging and with each step i tell Joel- ooo!!!  i think i could move now!-  and he reasures me that i couldn’t and won’t.  And then i say- ok, maybe next week!

I started sanding the trim boards in the upstairs bedrooms.  We are not going to strip them to the wood, i would kinda like to but it is so much work.  They would all have to come off and be planed.  So that is not something i want to do- at all.  What i am going to work on is just getting them smooth so that when they are painted they will look nice and crisp.  I don’t want everything to be perfect, i want old character to show through.  This is not a brand new home and as much as we are taking out and adding to i want to respect what went on in this house 80 years ago.  I don’t know if that makes sence to you but it does to me!!!

In the new, we are going to build everything to how it should look to match and that excites me.  These homes have so many beautiful qualities that many times are being taken out and covered.  For the outside i am not sure what is going to happen.  I don’t want to take anything down or cover but, but, but…  For now we do not have to replace so when we put the new siding on we are going to match the paint.  And for the new siding we are going to match to the old so it looks like everything has been like that forever!!  That makes me happy!!

Well i covered a few things here today- but things seem to be going quite quickly so i will try to catch you up shortly!!

I can relate to your excitement Delee when we renovated a three story house we had moved to Froude. So much fun creating something beautiful out of something old. It looks wonderful!
